Jinhwan joined YG Entertainment as trainee on January 3, 2011.In 2013, Jinhwan competed as part of Team B on the MNET reality survival show WIN: Who Is Next, competing against other trainees in "Team A" for the chance to debut as a group. Team B lost to Team A. During the program, Team B released two singles: "Just Another Boy" and "Climax".In June 2014, He appeared in the reality survival program Mix & Match, a follow-up to WIN: Who Is Next which determined the final seven-member lineup of iKON. Jinhwan along with Bobby and B.I were confirmed members while other trainees competed for the final line up.
